An Event App That Simply Works
Apps are everywhere: at our favorite coffee house, the sports club, and even the local library. And there is a reason for that. They make everyday life easier and help us understand what to expect from an experience before we even get there. Events are no different.
Research shows that app satisfaction is closely linked to a positive event experience. So we took the science behind it and built our app to be simple, intuitive and easy to use.
So, how did Summitware build the app?
We have been working on our app for a while now. And there is a reason for that too. Instead of developing one generic app and adapting it for different devices, our developers split into two teams to build native apps for iOS and Android. That means that if you are an iPhone user, the app should feel like an iPhone app. The same goes for Android. Interactions and platform-specific features follow the conventions people already know from their phones. In short, you should not have to learn how to use an event app.
Our event app, Summitware Events, is designed to make the experience smoother from the very first step for attendees, organizers, and sponsors. As an attendee, you can access your ticket and exchange it for a badge, browse the program, build your own schedule and find practical event information. As an organizer, you can keep attendees informed about schedule changes, social events, and important updates while making sure the program they see is always up to date. And for sponsors, the app becomes another place to be visible.
We believe that a good app should not simply contain information. It should make the event easier and pleasant to navigate. This is how we approached building our app. Instead of squeezing every possible feature into the app, we focused on the moments where attendees and organizers actually need it.
How is our app different from others?
One of the biggest struggles in the event industry is keeping data consistent between vendors: registration happens in one system, badges are printed through another, the event app operates somewhere else. Each system speaks differently while APIs are expected to act as the translator. Many companies say that they can connect to any API, and to be frank, we make those promises too. But integrations always come with a cost. At best, that cost is development time and money. At worst, it affects the attendee experience. Using one platform for registration, badging and the event app removes much of that complexity.
What will you find in our app?
Agenda and faculty
Events can get complicated quickly. Multiple rooms, parallel sessions, dozens of speakers, workshops, networking sessions, social events… and somehow attendees are expected to keep track of all of it. This is where the event app becomes the central interface between the event and the attendee. The agenda gives attendees a clear view of what is happening, where it is happening, and when. As the program evolves, the app stays up to date, helping organizers communicate changes in real time without making attendees search through emails, websites, or printed programs.
My Schedule
My Schedule lets attendees turn the full program into their own program. Add the sessions you want to attend, follow the speakers you are interested in and see what is coming next without scanning through the entire agenda every time. You could also search for speakers by name and quickly find where and when they are presenting.
Practical information and push notifications
Where is breakfast? When are social events happening? How can I get support? Practical information is where attendees can find the smaller details that suddenly become very important once they are actually at the venue. It is also where organizers can send important notifications and keep attendees informed when there is a last-minute change.
And that is pretty much it for now, we cannot wait to share about upcoming features.
Event venues are already big enough to get lost in - your app should not fail you.
